The Grammy Awards

Opinions folks, just opinions!

  1. The 52nd annual Grammy Award Ceremony aired this evening on CBS. The show opened with a superb performance by Lady Gaga and a duet with Elton John. Lady Gaga is one of those artists that you either get or you don’t. I get her and love her!

The first Grammy of the evening went to Beyonce. Her song Single Ladies won Song of the Year. No surprise there.

J-Lo looked great in her skin-tight white and silver dress. Well, let me clarify that, her hair looked great and her body looked great but the makeup was a bit to dark and the dress was a bit too tight…in my humble opinion.

My sister once told me that if you add, “in my humble opinion” to anything you say, it makes it a little less offensive because your are simply sharing your opinion rather than passing judgment. I like it!

  2. Taylor Swift really annoys the heck outta me with that whole, “who me?” crap. Just get up on the stage and accept your award before Kanye appears outta nowhere to steal your thunder. Congrats and all, but please go away.

Beyonce does it again!! That girl is such a diva. I could watch her entertain all day. What a performer! I can’t say enough about her. I think that part of the reason that I feel this way about her and Gaga is that I know how much of themselves they put into performing and just how brilliant they both really are.

It was great to see Seal. He’s one of those artists whose album could play on repeat without skipping any tracks.

Pink is cool; I like her a lot, but I really want to fast forward past this performance. The acrobatics are more entertaining than what she’s singing about. I just wanna scream, “Oh dear God make it stop,” in my humble opinion. :o) I looked away to type and when I looked back she was soaking wet and spinning in the air. Let me be the first to say, “Are you a Lady Gaga wannabe? You know you were thinking it too. That was a Gaga-esque performance! Ultimately, I enjoyed watching it but could have watched it on mute.

Why the hell is Keri Hilson still in the New Artist category? I mean really, when are they going to realize she’s been on the scene for quite some time now, Jeez! And who the hell is Zac Brown anyway? How can the Zac Brown Band be the best new artist when I don’t have them on my iPod?

Speaking of new artists, I wonder if Kandi Burruss is a new artist because she too has been on it for a while but just breaking out with her own single. Hhmmm, just a thought. Oh wait, where’s Kim Zolciak? Hahahahahaha….Don’t be tardy for the party Kim!

Miley, referring to anyone as “you people” is offensive. Stop it!

  3. I don’t really have anything to say about the Black Eyed Peas. They never disappoint. I often find my self saying or singing, “I got a feeling, that today’s gonna be a good day.”

Lady Antebellum is performing. I gotta take the puppy out and now would be a good time.

How on earth can record of the year go to someone who hasn’t inspired me to log on to iTunes? I can honestly say that I can’t name a single Kings of Leon song and I like to think that I have a pretty good selection of music.

Jamie Fox is a damn fool. He cracks me up. Gotta love him! And T-Pain didn’t fool me for a minute with that blonde wig. I knew it was him from the beginning. If they bring one more artist on this damn stage…Whoa was that Gabourey Sidibe?

Now don’t get me wrong, I love Dave Mathews and U2 but Green Day most definitely deserved Rock album of the year. Way to go guys!

Oh, the Zac Brown Band is performing. I think I’ll go grab a bite to eat since I skipped dinner.

Checking back in…oh I can stay in the kitchen cause lil Taylor is whining. Has anyone else noticed that she’s off key? Is it a fairy tale or a nightmare? Simon Cowell where are you?

Haha, I just got accused of being in a foul mood on fb. My mood is just fine, but I have this thing called an opinion. And now I’m racist! Wow! I’m gonna ignore that and keep it movin.

So the Michael Jackson tribute was great but I don’t have 3D glasses so it was a bit boring to watch everyone being all blurry. I would have fast forwarded past that but the kids were cute!

Bon Jovi is classic and always will be.

Andrea Bocelli is not one that many people can get into but I was introduced to his music many years ago when Victoria’s secret had his CD on the counter. I picked it up and have been a fan since and joined by MJB, I’m in awe.

  5. If Dave wasn't already married, I'd marry him. See I like all genres and races.

  6. Best female pop vocal goes to Beyonce. Hhmmm, anyone shocked? Nah. Adele actually gets more playtime on my iPod but it's all good. I love B.

  7. Usually the lifetime achievement award goes to someone that I've heard of before but I am gonna have to google David, "Honeyboy" Edwards.

  8. And Maxwell closes the show with Pretty Wings. One of my 25 most played songs on iTunes.

Good show, lots of good stuff and lots of laughable stuff. I love the grammy awards! And I love my friends, even when they disagree with me. I am thankful for all of you because you remind me that I have feelings!

  9. Oops, I spoke (or typed) too soon. Now Roberta Flack is performing with Maxwell. My mama used to love her. That was before my time though.

  11. Lol, maybe I shoulda looked at the time listing before I closed the show! I'm ready to call it a night and more people keep coming out. Jeff Beck has just performed and seriously, I'm just tired.

  12. Yay for Drake!!! Love him.
Drake, Eminem and Lil Wayne perfom with the drummer from Blink 182. Hhmmm, nice. The first couple of minutes have me asking, so where the heck is Drake? Then as soon as he comes out, my sound goes out on this 15 year old television. Serves me right cause I have been talking trash all night! It’s ok. I like this performance, well what I can hear of it anyway. I really hope that was the end of the show because I’m finished!

One final thought though, one of my friends just mentioned that just once she’d like to see Lil Wayne perform without seeing his underwear. Asking too much? No I don’t think so, so Wayne pull ya damn pants up! You got me singin, “Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin like a fool wit ya pants on the ground.”

    Good night folks!

Wait, did I say good night? Taylor Swift just won album of the year, now it's over and I'm outta here.

  13. The day after buzz:
Chris Brown wasn’t there last night and he probably would have done a great job on that MJ tribute. I’m just sayin.

Mariah, Whitney, Kanye and the Atlanta Housewives (Kim and Kandi) were all MIA. I am surprised by all of those.

Folks are talking trash and giving shade about Beyonce thanking her husband in her acceptance speech. I don’t get that. He’s her husband! I mean, really.

I thought that I was having television problems but apparently a large portion of the Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne performance was bleeped. That’s just funny.

And why didn’t Adam Lambert perform? All jokes aside, I kinda like the kid.

  14. I've also heard a lot of people saying things like, "You didn't like MJ when he was here so why are you faking it now that he's gone." Well my response to that is if so many people didn't like him then how do you explain the record sales. Most people can agree that he was one hell of an entertainer but those same people can also agree that he was troubled and led what was often considered a questionable life. He was being honored for his talent and that's it! His personal choices were not being honored so let people honor him as they wish.
